Thanks for visiting us. As you can see this page is mainly dedicated to my chinchillas, but it also contains info on other things that are part of my life. If you want to learn more about these things then just follow the links.
It all started about a year ago when we went to a local pet store. They had a poor little chin in an aquarium type cage. I fell in love with him but could not get him as he was way too expensive. I did however decide that I really wanted one if I could find a place that had them cheaper. I got on the internet and found my breeder. Two weeks later I brought home sweet little Tooney.
About a month later school started back and I didn't have as much time to spend with the little guy so I thought about getting him a mate. Willow came home and Tooney seemed happy to have someone who spoke his language around.
Several months after she came home I was looking at more chin sites and fell in love with the Black Velvet mutation. Scared of what Serge might think (I only wanted one, remember!) I held back. Unfortunately I have a very weak will and he wants me to be happy so I got on the phone and had my breeder try to find me a black velvet female. That done I went to her house to pick up some shavings and (naturally) she took me into her chin house and showed me some chins. We were looking at all the different colors she had when she pulled out a gorgeous little boy who was a pink white except he had a beige cast over his fur. As I held him he got comfy just under my chin and went to sleep! I was in love. So, Queequeg came home.
A couple of weeks later my new girl was ready to go and I brought her to her new home. Pypa and Queegy are together and hopefully will produce some pretty babies!

I then heard about reverse mosaics. Although there seems to be no universal name for this color most know it as this. It is a mosaic chin who has more grey than white. Naturally since they are so beautiful I had to get one. My breeder just happened to have had one born so I held my breath waiting for him to be weaned. He was sweet but didn't have quite as much grey as I would have liked. He came home anyway as he is very dark and handsome. Since he was born on Valentine's Day I named him Cupid.
As luck would have it she also had a little girl who had just been born who was a dark silver mosaic with a large white splodge on her left hip. This was the reverse mosaic I was looking for. She came home 5.12.01 and is the LAST chinchilla we will be getting for a very long time!
